Here is my understanding and my criticism on Human Rights.
Brief history:
3 years after the establishment of United Nation, Human Rights’ declaration was approved by UN General Assembly. The declaration of Human rights which aims to create a guaranty for equal rights and freedom for all people were passed in 10 December 1948 which is so-called the International day of Human Rights. It includes 30 rules.
Human Rights number 1: Click it!
WE ARE ALL BORN FREE AND EQUAL
We are all born free; we all have our own thoughts and ideas; we should all be treated in the same way.
Human Rights number 2:
DON’T DISCRIMINATE
Whatever our differences, we should not be treated differently.
Human Rights number 3:
THE RIGHT TO LIFE
We all have the right of living, and we are all deserved to live on freedom and safety.
Human Rights number 4:
NO SLAVERY
Nobody has any right to make us a slave, neither do we.
Human Rights number 5:
NO TORTURE
Nobody has any rights to hurt us.
Human Rights number 6:
YOU HAVE RIGHTS NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO
I’m in Canada, and I have the same rights that I’ve had in Iran; to be honest maybe more.
I am a person just like you; yes, you who are reading this!
Human Rights number 7:
WE ARE ALL EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW
You have heard that the law is the same for everyone; especially during past presidential election in Iran.
Human Rights number 8:
YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED BYLAW
You can ask for the law to help you. Keep in mind, however, that it may take long to receive any response.
Human Rights number 9:
NO UNFAIR DETAINMENT
It says: Nobody has the right to put us in prison without a good reason and keep us there, or to send us away from our country. However, to my mind, it lacks definition; what is the unfair and what is the good reason? The notion would be strengthened if the writer provided a clear explanation about this point that what good and unfair are.
Human Rights number 10:
THE RIGHT TO TRIAL
Trials should be in public.
Human Rights number 11:
WE ARE ALWAYS INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY
Do not judge; can we?.
Human Rights number 12:
THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY
SORRY, I’m not a good reference for this one.
Human Rights number 13:
FREEDOM TO MOVE
It is interesting because my passport says “The holder of this passport is not entitled to travel to the occupied Palestine“.
Human Rights number 14:
THE RIGHT TO SEEK A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE
I think that the ones who wrote this did not have any idea about the situation of refugees and immigrants.
Human Rights number 15:
RIGHT TO A NATIONALITY
I refer you to my note on number 14.
Human Rights number 16:
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Every grown-up has the right to marry and have a family if they want to. Men and women have the same rights when they are married, and when they are separated.
Firstly, in my country, grown-up could be a 9 year old girl; secondly, every girl needs their father’s promotion for marriage; also, father has this right to choose a man for his daughter. Most importantly, women do not have any right after marriage or divorce, they are the property of their fathers and their husbands.
Another thing is that this statement lacks definition; who is the grown up; what are that same rights, and so on.
